FIRE SAFETY TRAINING IS NOT OPTIONAL
IT IS A LEGAL REQUIREMENT!
Since changes in the regulatory reform order (RRO) came into force in 2005 it is now compulsory for company owners to comply with safety law – and this includes fire safety training.
- Companies MUST PROVIDE fire safety training
- All commercial, industrial and public buildings MUST HAVE appoint a Responsible Individual (RI) to uphold fire safety procedures and policies and will be liable if any regulations have not been properly followed
- The Responsible Individual will ensure that fire risk assessments are carried out and all potential dangers identified
- The employer is still holds responsibility at all times for providing an environment which is safe and ensure systems are regularly maintained, as well as ensuring all emergency fire escape routes are clearly identified. They are also responsible for appropriate ongoing staff training
